Students are responsible for billable study abroad tuition, program fees, housing, and the non-refundable deposit once they have committed to attending a program.

Committed students are registered in SIS by the ISO; bills are visible in the SIS self-service, and are payable to Student Accounts. For more information regarding billing and payments visit: http://sfs.virginia.edu/finances 

 

For Summer programs, the following schedule applies:
 

·    100% of billable tuition and program fees due 30 days prior to program start date

·    100% of billable airfare due 10 days from date of registration (Billable Airfare is Non-Refundable). 
 

The billable housing listed above includes lodgings in private homes with accommodation in double or single rooms according to availability.  The price includes three meals per day in the home and laundry service.
 

The airfare listed above is the cost of the optional round-trip group flight between the U.S. point of departure and the destination airport in Spain.  Ground transportation from the airport in Spain to Valencia is included in this fare.  During the application process, participants will have the opportunity to choose traveling with the group.  The billable airfare will be charged to SIS if the participant chooses the group flight.  Airfare provided by the program is due upon billing and is non-refundable.  Please note the deadline for choosing this flight.  There are limited seats available; seats will be released on a first come, first served basis.  Students who do not elect to fly with the group by the stated deadline or are unable to secure a seat due to availability will be responsible for their own international transportation.  
 

Please refer to the Withdrawal and Refund Policy before committing to your program. Once you have committed, you will be subject to the Withdrawal and Refund Policy.  In some cases, there will be no refund available.
 

The University of Virginia reserves the right to adjust all program charges, without prior notification, for increases associated with but not limited to, the cost of instruction, foreign exchange rates, and Board of Visitors changes to tuition and fees.
 

The non-billable items posted above are estimates and will differ for each individual depending on their personal needs, course requirements, and personal choices.  Fluctuations in international currency will affect total expenditures. 

Participation in the program includes the following:

  • CISI medical and emergency insurance
  • Local transportation (bus/metro)
  • Gym membership

The estimated cost for Meals listed above is based on approximately $30 per week for snacks and/or meals while away from host families.

Personal travel beyond the scope of the program is not included in this budget. 

 

The cost to obtain a passport and appropriate visas varies with each individual and is not included as part of this budget sheet. 
 

The cost of immunization for the area of travel will differ for each individual and has not been included in this budget.
