School of Engineering

Since it's official opening in October 1991, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology has established itself as an intellectual powerhouse, energizing the community's transformation into a knowledge-based society, and securing a place on the academic world map in record-breaking time. An innovator in research and teaching, HKUST is the only science and technology research university in Hong Kong, and the only one to offer an all-PhD faculty. Its groundbreaking work in science, engineering, business, humanities and social science is successfully pushing back the boundaries of the information age. Such advances are assisted by the University's top-class facilities.

Making a significant contribution on a global scale has always been a priority for HKUST's School of Engineering. Ever since the QS/Times Higher Education Supplement World University Rankings were first released in 2004, HKUST was the ONLY Hong Kong institution that has been placed in the world's top 30 in the Engineering and Technology field every year. Our high international rankings confirm our standing as a leading academic force.

The School of Engineering has six academic departments, all of which offer undergraduate programs leading to the degree of Bachelor of Engineering (BEng). Exchange students are assigned to an engineering department that best matches their home major department. Curricula at HKUST are credit-based. On average, exchange students take five courses per term, adding up to approximately 15 credits. Students can choose a combination of courses across different disciplines to fulfill their academic needs, provided that they fulfill the prerequisites of the respective course(s) and meet all enrollment conditions

Accommodations
Students will be accommodated on-campus as best as possible. Application forms will be enclosed in the admission package and should be submitted directly to the Student Housing Office by the designated deadline. For more information on on- and off-campus accommodations, please visit the Student Housing Office website.
